Push the PR, close the laptop, go live your life. Night Porter stays up. When a reviewer leaves comments, CI goes red or main drifts into a conflict, it hands the job to Claude Code, OpenCode or Codex on your own machine. And it sticks to the rules you gave it.
Think IRC bouncer, but for pull requests. Version 0.1.1 is out, open source, and still early days.

A tiny daemon checks GitHub notifications and your open GitLab MRs every couple of minutes. No webhooks. Nothing to host.
It only cares about repos you picked, events you switched on and people you trust. Anyone new waits in the inbox until you say so.
Once a PR goes quiet for a moment, everything new on it becomes one job. Your agent works in its own git worktree, so your checkout stays exactly how you left it.
Before anything leaves your laptop, Night Porter looks for secrets, protected files, dependency bumps and suspiciously big diffs.
Depending on how much rope you’ve given it, it pushes and replies on its own, or waits for you to press a.

House rules
You pick how much rope it gets: globally, per repo, or per mode. Most people start at suggest or draft and move up after a week of watching it behave.
draft: The agent commits. You look it over in the TUI and press a. Then Night Porter pushes and replies.

Use whichever agent you already pay for. Set it globally or per repo.
Allow or block by role, user, team or bot. Anyone new goes to the inbox first.
One worktree per PR, reset to the remote head before every job, tidied away when the PR merges.
Secrets (gitleaks or the built-in scanner), protected files and Night Porter’s own files. Force-pushes and history rewrites are off the table.
Tell it when to work, per weekday, timezones and DST included. Anything outside those hours waits.
Concise, detailed-tech-lead, non-technical, or write your own. One reply per thread. No spam.
Replies say “via Night Porter (Claude Code)” by default. You can switch it off. Maybe don’t.
Need DDEV or Docker running for the tests? It spins them up and tears them down per worktree.
Add a label or type /nightporter triage, reproduce, fix or review on an issue. It stops at draft.
Share review steps, reply styles and environment presets. Pinned to a commit, and they can only make the rules stricter.
With Claude Code, every shell command the agent runs goes in the OS sandbox (Seatbelt or bubblewrap). No network unless you list a domain. No sandbox, no job. Codex runs in its own sandbox, with the network off.

Not worth a reply? Press x to dismiss a job. Nothing is pushed or posted, u undoes it, and History keeps it until you delete it.
Press Enter on a repo, or run nightporter repo, to see everything that shapes its jobs: level, agent, prompts, reply style, trust and hours.
A ping when something needs you, fails or finishes. Mute any of them. Or all of them.
Tokens come from gh / glab or your OS keychain. The agent never sees them, so it couldn’t push even if it wanted to.
No files get written into your repos; it works in its own branches and worktrees. It reads the CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md you already have, and that’s it.
Plain TOML in ~/.config/nightporter. Save the file and it’s live. A typo is an error, not a silent shrug.
Runs as a launchd or systemd user service. Windows builds too, but call it experimental.
Press D or run nightporter stop. Nothing half-done gets pushed. It tells you about new versions, and never updates itself.

Night Porter works with herdr and Rex. Press h on a job and its worktree opens in either one, with your agent briefed on what happened overnight. In herdr, the queue also runs as a popup.

Ask the concierge
Night Porter itself is free.
The agent runs on the Claude Code, OpenCode or Codex setup you already have, so it uses your plan or API key. The real run in the video above cost $0.32.
And so one bad night can’t run up a bill, there’s a 30-minute timeout per agent run, an optional dollar budget (Claude Code) and a daily cap of 50 jobs. It also gives up on a CI fix after three tries and flags the PR for you. You can tune all of it per repo.
It can’t merge, force-push, close or approve. Those aren’t settings you can flip. They just aren’t in there.
The agent works in a separate worktree, never in your checkout. Every push goes through checks for secrets, protected files and history rewrites first.
Still nervous? Start at observe or suggest and nothing leaves your machine at all.
Comments from people you don’t trust are stripped out of the agent’s context completely. They wait in your inbox instead.
The agent has no tokens either. So even if something slipped through, it couldn’t push or post. Night Porter does that part, after the checks.
Yep. It runs locally, as a background service.
If the lid’s closed or it’s outside your working hours, events queue up and get handled the next time it runs. An always-on box at home works nicely too.

Night Porter sits on the other side of the review. It deals with the feedback on PRs you opened: answers the comments, unbreaks the CI, sorts out the conflicts. With your agent, under your rules.
Only to the model provider your agent already talks to.
Night Porter has no server and no telemetry. There’s nowhere else for it to go.
Once a day it asks GitHub for the latest version number, so it can tell you about updates. That request carries nothing about you or your repos, and check_updates = false turns it off.
Press D in Night Porter’s window, or run nightporter stop. Closing the window isn’t enough: the part that watches your PRs keeps running in the background.
Anything it was halfway through is never pushed; it picks it up again when you run nightporter start. To stop it starting when you log in, run nightporter service uninstall.
macOS and Linux.
Windows builds too, but treat it as experimental for now.

Homebrew, an install script or Cargo. Pick one, then the setup wizard does the rest:
